HOW TO FIX SVCHOST ERRORS

In November 2006 Microsoft released an update that caused certain files to become corrupt and cause "SVCHost Errors"

A typical scenario is that the computer hangs during the installation of Microsoft Updates, the user has to switch the power off, the next time the computer is booted the error appears. After the error appears the user will have intermittent network and Internet connection, the computer will run slowly, and other recurring errors.

Download this zip archive, and then extract and run the batch file inside.

The batch file is safe to run multiple times even if the problem you are experiencing is not the "SVCHost Errors" problem described above.

You may also need to install this hotfix.

These issues haven't been fully resolved yet. Microsoft acknowledge there is a problem and are "Investigating the issues". A link to the current status of the "Investigation" can be found here.
